jewel boxes
CD storage cases
Jewel boxes are the hinged plastic cases that hold compact discs, named for how they display the disc like a gem in a presentation case.
The term distinguishes standard CD packaging from cardboard sleeves or paper envelopes.
By extension, jewel box describes any small, ornate container for storing precious items: She kept her rings in a velvet-lined jewel box.
