international tribunal
Cross-border judicial body
An international tribunal is a court established by agreement among nations to adjudicate disputes between states or to try individuals for violations of international law.
The International Court of Justice settles disputes between countries; the International Criminal Court prosecutes war crimes and genocide.
Tribunals may also be created for specific conflicts: The tribunal for the former Yugoslavia tried war criminals from the Balkan wars.
