infant car seat

Newborn travel restraint

An infant car seat is a rear-facing safety seat designed for newborns and very young babies, typically up to about 35 pounds.

Unlike convertible car seats, infant seats have a detachable carrier that clicks into a base installed in the vehicle, allowing parents to move a sleeping baby without disturbing them: She carried the infant car seat into the restaurant.
