incubation time
Development waiting span
Incubation time is the interval between exposure to something and the appearance of its effects.
In medicine, it's the period from infection to first symptoms: The incubation time for chickenpox is about two weeks.
The term applies more broadly to any delay between cause and visible result—the incubation time for an idea, a chemical reaction, or a developing photograph.
