illegal voting
Unauthorized ballot casting
Illegal voting is casting a ballot in violation of election laws—whether by voting more than once, voting in the wrong jurisdiction, voting while ineligible (as a noncitizen or felon in states that prohibit it), or impersonating another voter.
The term appears in both earnest discussions of election integrity and partisan rhetoric exaggerating its prevalence: They're claiming illegal voting swung the election.
