ice skating rinks
Loops on ice
Ice skating rinks are enclosed or outdoor facilities with frozen surfaces for recreational or competitive skating.
Indoor rinks use refrigeration systems to maintain ice year-round, while outdoor rinks depend on cold weather or artificial cooling.
The term covers everything from neighborhood ponds cleared for skating to Olympic venues: The city opens its ice skating rinks in December.
