homerooms

Daily attendance spots

Homerooms are classrooms where students report at the start of the school day for attendance and announcements before dispersing to other classes.

The term also refers to the group of students assigned to such a room, or the brief period spent there: We were in the same homeroom all through high school.

Homeroom often serves administrative rather than instructional purposes.
