historic trails
Significant old pathways
Historic trails are routes of significant historical importance, typically paths traveled by explorers, migrants, traders, or military forces in earlier eras: the Oregon Trail, the Silk Road, the Trail of Tears.
Many are preserved as heritage sites or recreational paths where modern travelers can retrace historical journeys.
The term often appears in names of parks and monuments: Historic Trail markers lined the old wagon route.
