high altitude training
Thin-air exercise regimen
High altitude training is athletic preparation conducted at elevations where reduced oxygen levels force the body to adapt—typically above 7,000 feet.
The stress of thinner air stimulates red blood cell production, theoretically improving oxygen delivery when athletes return to lower elevations for competition.
The team spent three weeks at high altitude training in Colorado.
Also called altitude training.
