healing up

Mending after injury

Healing up describes the process of recovering from an injury or wound, with emphasis on the progression toward completion.

The "up" adds a sense of thoroughness or finishing: My knee is finally healing up after the surgery.

It's informal and conversational, often used to check on someone's recovery or report progress: How's that cut healing up?
