headache rack
Cargo barrier frame
A headache rack is a protective metal frame mounted behind a truck cab, preventing cargo from shifting forward and crashing through the rear window during sudden stops.
The name reflects what it prevents rather than causes.
Common on flatbed trucks and work vehicles: Every contractor's pickup has a headache rack.
