harlotry
The oldest profession
Harlotry is the practice of prostitution, or behavior considered sexually promiscuous or morally loose.
The word is archaic and literary, appearing mainly in biblical translations and period literature: She was accused of harlotry.
Like its root harlot, the term carries heavy moral condemnation and sounds deliberately old-fashioned when used today.
