hard left
Sudden radical turn
Hard left describes the most radical or extreme end of left-wing politics—those who advocate revolutionary change, socialism, or communism rather than moderate liberal reforms.
The term often carries dismissive or critical connotations when used by opponents: The party has lurched to the hard left.
Compare with far left, which is similar but slightly less emphatic.
