grayed out
Inactive interface element
Grayed out describes an interface element—button, menu option, text—displayed in muted gray to indicate it's currently unavailable or inactive.
The visual dimming signals that clicking won't work until conditions change: The save button was grayed out until I made changes.
Sometimes greyed out in British spelling.
