gravel bikes
Dirt road cycles
Gravel bikes are bicycles designed for riding on unpaved roads, gravel paths, and mixed terrain.
They blend features of road bikes and mountain bikes—drop handlebars and a lightweight frame like a road bike, but with wider tires, more relaxed geometry, and greater clearance for rough surfaces.
The category emerged in the 2010s as cyclists sought versatile bikes for adventure riding: She bought a gravel bike for the rail trails near her house.
