golden buzzer
Judge's ultimate endorsement
A golden buzzer is a special button on talent competition shows like *America's Got Talent* that allows a judge to send a contestant directly to a later round, bypassing elimination stages.
Pressing it triggers celebratory effects—golden confetti, flashing lights.
Each judge typically gets one golden buzzer per season, making it a dramatic endorsement: She hit the golden buzzer before he even finished singing.
The term has spread beyond television to describe any fast-track approval or enthusiastic yes.
