go fetal
Curl into yourself
Go fetal means to curl up in the fetal position—knees drawn to chest, body contracted—typically as a response to overwhelming stress, fear, or exhaustion.
The phrase suggests retreating into a protective, almost infantile state: After the third crisis of the day, I just wanted to go fetal under my desk.
It can describe literal physical curling up or figurative emotional withdrawal.
