game code
Digital activation string
A game code is a string of characters that unlocks content, grants access, or activates features in a video game.
Codes may be entered to redeem purchased games, downloadable content, or promotional items: I got a game code with my new graphics card.
The term also refers to cheat codes—sequences that activate hidden features or advantages: Up, up, down, down is the most famous game code ever.
