fuse boxes
Electrical safety enclosures
Fuse boxes are electrical panels containing fuses that protect circuits from overloads.
When too much current flows through a circuit, the fuse burns out and breaks the connection, preventing fires or damage.
Most modern buildings use circuit breakers instead, but older homes often retain their original fuse boxes: The electrician replaced the old fuse box with a breaker panel.
