frost blanket
Garden cold shield
A frost blanket is a lightweight fabric cover placed over plants to protect them from frost damage.
The material traps heat radiating from the soil while allowing light and moisture through: I covered the tomatoes with a frost blanket when temperatures dropped.
Also called a row cover or frost cloth.
