found images
Repurposed existing pictures
Found images are photographs or pictures not created by the person using them, but discovered and repurposed—in scrapbooks, collages, or art projects.
The term echoes "found objects" in art, where everyday items become artistic material through recontextualization.
Found images often come from old magazines, family albums, or anonymous photographs: She built the collage entirely from found images.
