forwardness

Excessive social assertiveness

Forwardness is boldness that pushes past social boundaries—speaking too freely, being too familiar, or presuming intimacy not yet earned.

The word often carries disapproval: Her forwardness made the other guests uncomfortable.

It can also describe sexual boldness or aggression.

Less commonly, forwardness simply means eagerness or readiness to act.
