fork-tongued
Not to trust
Fork-tongued means deceitful or deliberately misleading in speech, like a snake's forked tongue darting in two directions at once.
The image suggests someone who says one thing while meaning another, or who speaks differently to different audiences: a fork-tongued politician making contradictory promises.
The term carries strong negative connotations of intentional dishonesty.
