footfaults
Baseline crossing penalties
Footfaults are violations in racket sports, particularly tennis, where the server's foot touches or crosses the baseline before striking the ball.
A footfault results in a fault, and two faults lose the point.
The term extends to any technical misstep: The contract was voided due to procedural footfaults.
Also spelled as two words.
