fiction magazines

Serialized narrative periodicals

Fiction magazines are periodicals that publish short stories, novellas, or serialized novels.

They flourished in the early twentieth century as pulp magazines covering genres like science fiction, detective stories, and romance.

Though largely displaced by other media, some survive: The New Yorker still publishes literary fiction, Asimov's Science Fiction has run since 1977.
