false dichotomies
Forced two-choice traps
False dichotomies are choices presented as if only two options exist when more are available.
The fallacy forces an either/or framework onto situations that allow for middle ground, alternatives, or both options at once: You're either with us or against us.
Also called false dilemmas or black-and-white thinking.
The singular is false dichotomy.
