extra dry

Minimal residual sugar

Extra dry describes wines and vermouths that contain very little residual sugar—drier than those simply labeled "dry." The term appears most often on sparkling wines and vermouths: extra dry champagne, extra dry vermouth for martinis.

Confusingly, in champagne classification, extra dry is actually slightly sweeter than brut, which is the driest common style.
