extra-time

After regulation play

Extra-time is additional playing time added to a match when the score is tied at the end of regulation, used to determine a winner.

Common in knockout football (soccer) matches, it typically consists of two fifteen-minute halves: The match went to extra-time after a 1-1 draw.

Distinguished from stoppage time, which compensates for delays during regular play.
