Extended cab describes a pickup truck with a cabin stretched beyond the standard two-door configuration, adding small rear seats or storage space behind the front seats.
These back seats are typically cramped and accessed through small rear-hinged doors or by folding the front seats forward.
Extended cabs split the difference between regular cabs and full four-door crew cabs: The extended cab gave us just enough room for the kids on short trips.
