extended breastfeeding
Nursing beyond infancy
Extended breastfeeding is nursing a child beyond the age typically expected in a given culture—usually past one or two years.
The term itself signals that someone considers the practice unusual or prolonged, though worldwide many children breastfeed into toddlerhood or beyond: She practiced extended breastfeeding until her daughter was three.
Also called full-term breastfeeding by those who reject the implication that it's abnormal.
