envenoming

Delivering toxic bite

Envenoming is the act or process of injecting venom into a victim, typically by a snake, spider, or other venomous creature.

Medical literature distinguishes envenoming (venom actually enters the body) from a dry bite (fangs pierce skin but no venom is delivered): The envenoming caused rapid tissue necrosis.

Figuratively, envenoming means poisoning with malice or bitterness: envenoming the debate with personal attacks.
