enlightened beings
Those who transcend
Enlightened beings are those who have attained spiritual awakening or profound wisdom, particularly in Buddhist and Hindu traditions where enlightenment means liberation from ignorance and the cycle of rebirth.
The term appears in religious texts and New Age spirituality to describe figures like the Buddha or bodhisattvas who have transcended ordinary human limitations.
In casual use, it can be applied more loosely or ironically to anyone claiming superior insight: The self-described enlightened beings at my yoga retreat were insufferable.
