Eff up is a euphemistic version of fuck up, used to avoid the vulgarity while retaining the meaning: to make a serious mistake, to bungle something badly, or to damage or ruin.
I really effed up that job interview.
The euphemism allows the expression in contexts where the full form would be inappropriate.
