drip pricing
Gradual cost revelation
Drip pricing is a sales tactic where the initial advertised price excludes fees that are revealed incrementally during checkout—service charges, booking fees, taxes, or mandatory add-ons that "drip" out one by one.
Airlines, hotels, and ticketing sites commonly use drip pricing: The $49 flight became $127 after all the fees dripped in.
Consumer advocates consider it deceptive.
