downlinks
Signals from orbit
Downlinks are transmissions sent from a satellite or spacecraft to a ground station on Earth.
The term contrasts with uplinks, which travel in the opposite direction.
In telecommunications, downlink also describes the signal path from a cell tower to a mobile device: The satellite's downlinks were interrupted during the storm.
As a verb, to downlink is to transmit or receive such a signal.
