domestic economy
Household financial affairs
Domestic economy refers to household management—the practical skills of running a home, including budgeting, cooking, cleaning, and organizing.
The term was common in the 19th and early 20th centuries, often as a school subject teaching young women homemaking: She studied domestic economy at the normal school.
Now largely replaced by "home economics." Separately, domestic economy can mean a nation's internal economic activity, as distinct from international trade.
