disaster responder
Emergency aid worker
A disaster responder is someone who provides assistance during emergencies—natural disasters, industrial accidents, terrorist attacks, or other crises.
The term covers a range of roles: emergency medical technicians, search-and-rescue teams, firefighters, relief workers, and volunteers.
Disaster responders were on the scene within hours of the earthquake.
First responder is a related but narrower term, typically limited to those who arrive first at an emergency.
