director cameo
Creator's brief onscreen
A director cameo is a brief appearance by a film's director within their own movie.
Alfred Hitchcock famously appeared in most of his films, often as a passerby or background figure.
The practice ranges from subtle visual gags to more conspicuous roles: Did you catch the director cameo in the restaurant scene?
Some directors make it a signature element of their work.
