desert vistas

Desert vistas are the wide, sweeping views characteristic of arid landscapes—expanses of sand, rock formations, distant mesas, and sparse vegetation stretching toward the horizon.

The term evokes the dramatic scenery of places like the American Southwest, the Sahara, or the Australian Outback.

We pulled over to photograph the desert vistas along the highway.

Such views are prized for their stark beauty and sense of vast, open space.
