deigning

Stooping to act

Deigning is condescending to do something you consider beneath your dignity.

The word carries an air of reluctant superiority—someone who deigns to help is making clear they're doing you a favor: She finally deigned to acknowledge my presence.

Often used sarcastically to highlight someone's arrogance.
