defense contract
Government weapons deal
A defense contract is an agreement between a government and a private company to supply military goods or services—weapons systems, vehicles, equipment, or support operations.
The term often appears in discussions of government spending and the relationships between military agencies and major contractors: Lockheed Martin won a $2 billion defense contract for fighter jets.
