cut-throughs
Paths avoiding obstacles
Cut-throughs are shortcuts that pass through an area rather than around it.
A cut-through might be a path between buildings, an alley connecting parallel streets, or a route through a neighborhood that avoids main roads: Locals know all the cut-throughs to avoid traffic.
The term can also describe any expedient that bypasses standard procedures: regulatory cut-throughs.
