culture vultures
Avid museum visitors
Culture vultures are people who eagerly consume art, literature, music, and other cultural offerings—often with more enthusiasm than discernment.
The term carries a mildly mocking tone, suggesting someone who devours culture voraciously rather than savoring it: The museum opening attracted the usual culture vultures.
The phrase plays on the scavenging nature of vultures.
