cow pies

Cow pies are the flat, circular droppings left by cattle in pastures.

The shape resembles a pie, though the comparison is unflattering to actual pies.

Children in rural areas sometimes play games involving dried cow pies, which harden in the sun: Watch where you step—that field is full of cow pies.
