Cop killer refers to a person who has killed a police officer, or to something designed or reputed to kill police—most often armor-piercing ammunition capable of penetrating bulletproof vests.
The term carries strong connotations in debates over gun control and law enforcement: The bill would ban cop-killer bullets.
It also names a controversial 1992 Ice-T song that sparked national debate over violent lyrics.
