Contact sports are athletic activities in which physical collision between players is a regular and expected part of play—football, hockey, rugby, boxing, wrestling.
The term distinguishes these from non-contact sports like tennis or swimming, and is often invoked when discussing injury risk or protective equipment: He stopped playing contact sports after his second concussion.
