constructive discharge
Intolerable workplace exodus
Constructive discharge is a legal concept in employment law where an employee resigns because working conditions have become so intolerable that a reasonable person would feel compelled to quit.
Though technically a resignation, courts treat it as equivalent to being fired: She sued for constructive discharge after months of harassment went unaddressed.
The employer's conduct, not the employee's choice, is considered the cause of job loss.
