confoundment
State of confusion
Confoundment is the state of being confounded—bewildered, perplexed, or utterly confused.
The word carries a slightly stronger charge than simple confusion, suggesting something that defeats understanding or overturns expectations: Her confoundment was complete when the locked door swung open on its own.
Less common than confoundedness or the verb confound itself.
