computerphobia

Digital device aversion

Computerphobia is anxiety or aversion toward computers and digital technology.

The term emerged in the 1980s as personal computers entered homes and workplaces, describing people who felt intimidated by the new machines: My mother's computerphobia kept her from learning email.

The condition has largely faded as technology became ubiquitous, though some older adults still experience it.
