A comp day is a day off given to an employee as compensation for extra hours worked, typically overtime or weekend shifts.
Short for compensatory day.
Unlike overtime pay, a comp day returns time rather than money: I worked Saturday so I'm taking a comp day on Friday.
Common in salaried positions where hourly overtime isn't standard.
